Between the museums (mostly free!), the monuments, and the history, America’s capital city will capture your imagination. It’s a place where beauty and power meet: the National Mall running between the Lincoln Memorial and the Capitol building Is equally breathtaking in Fall (colors!) and Spring (cherry blossoms!). As you fill up your camera memory card card with photos, you’ll be surrounded by the politicians who make decisions affecting the whole country…and beyond. At night, hit the cobblestone streets of Georgetown for some serious shopping or have a drink at a sidewalk café in DuPont circle. For clubbing, try the Adams-Morgan neighborhood, where the international flavor of this city is in full effect!
Visiting DC is a great launching point to the other must-see cities of the East Coast: Philadelphia and New York. In America’s “birthplace of freedom”, or as we normally call it, “Philly”, you can walk in Independence National Historical Park, see the Liberty Bell, and polish off your hunger with a juicy Philly Cheesesteak. Just a couple of hours from there, and you’re in New York, the city that never sleeps!
